Hocking Hills Stewardship Plan

The Hocking Hills Tourism Association (HHTA) is excited to share with you this summary of plan highlights and the final Destination Stewardship Plan for the Hocking Hills. The draft plan was presented in meetings open to all community members on May 8-9, 2024, and the final plan includes input from the sessions.

Thank you again for your invaluable input and your time as we have developed this plan over the past six months.

The plan includes these recommendations:

  1. Create a local Destination Stewardship Collaborative made up of local business and government leaders to address policy changes needed to manage tourism growth.

  2. Position the Hocking Hills Tourism Association to address needed programming changes.

Recommendations specific to the Hocking Hills Tourism Association include the following:

  1. Encourage respectful visitor behaviors and continue marketing for overnight visitors, to support local businesses all year and ensure that all travelers treat the Hocking Hills with care.
  1. Convene collaborative engagements with community members and local organizations, for increased communication and understanding of local needs.
  2. Present the value of tourism so that residents and community leaders understand the valuable role tourism plays in the County’s budget and in saving taxpayers money.

HHTA looks forward to implementing recommendations in this plan, and we cordially invite you to get involved in destination stewardship efforts. Together, we can shape the future of tourism.
