 Hocking Hills Canopy Tours Season Opening

Hocking Hills Canopy Tours is opening for their 2017 season on Friday 3/17.  This will begin their tenth season of operation.  They now have 2 full zip line tours - the Original Canopy Tour with 10 zips and 5 bridges, the new X-Tour with 11 zips, including zipping into a recessed cave.  In addition they have the Super Zip with two parallel lines over 1/4 mile long, the Dragonfly for Kids with 8 zips and 4 bridges, the Segway Adventure Tour a 2 hour guided group tour on Segways, and our newest tour the Rockbridge Encounter.  The Rockbridge Encounter is a guided 1 hour tour via a Ranger ATV then a short hike to the seldom visited rock bridge at the Rockbridge State Nature Preserve.

Conkle’s Hollow state nature preserve is one of the most unique locations in the Hocking Hills. Join the naturalist for a short hike to find out why. Meet in the parking area. Sorry, no pets allowed in state nature preserves.

 

Women of Appalachia: Women Speak

Many people have an image of an Appalachian Woman, and they look down on her. The women of Appalachia Project encourages participation from women of diverse backgrounds, ages and experience to come together, to embrace stereotype, to show the whole woman; beyond the superficial factors that people use to judge her. Will feature poetry, story and song and a reception following the end of the event.

Modern Mixology – Fermentation, Wines and beers

Fermentation - Wines & Beers explores traditional and contemporary fermentation trends of breweries and wineries. Subsequent courses include brewery and wine tours on March 25, artisan spirits and cocktail mixology on April 8.

Appalachian Listening Room

The Appalachian Listening Room opens with a preview month in October 2016 and full-time (Every Saturday Night) in January 2017.

ALR gives songwriters, performers, and poets a place to perform for an attentive audience.

No food service. High end sodas from around the world will be available on site. Come out after Saturday evening dinner for 90 minutes of music in an intimate setting. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m. All tickets are $10.

DAILY - Honeybee Extravaganza: The Logan-Hocking County Library has honeybees! We have a beautiful, live bee display, courtesy of Dave Saving. Come and witness the bees work. Find the queen bee! DAILY - SALT AND PEPPER SHAKER MUSEUM AT FIDDLESTIX; View several hundred vintage figural salt and pepper shaker sets at Fiddlestix Village; 24180 St. Rt. 93 just south of the St. Rt. 56/93 intersection. A changing display of shaker sets are arranged by categories on shelves in three large windows. Groups include various animals, people, holidays, birds, fish, tools, buildings, vacation souvenirs and many more. Most of the sets are from the 1940s to the present. A smaller window hosts a monthly special exhibit. The best viewing time is between 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. Viewers are invited at their own risk, and the exhibit is open unless there is snow or ice on the parking lot. DAILY - Paul A. Johnson Pencil Sharpener Museum - Monday - Saturday, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.; Sunday 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.; Rev. Paul Johnson began his collection over 20 years ago. His Pencil Sharpener Museum, previously located at his home, has been moved to the Welcome Center and is open daily. This amazing collection of over 3400 pencil sharpeners has been featured in national magazines and is reputed to be the largest collection in the United States.
