Sherman House & Georgian Museums
The Sherman House Museum, 137 E. Main St., is the birthplace of Civil War Gen. William Tecumseh Sherman and U.S. Sen. John Sherman. The home contains many family treasures and an outstanding Civil War exhibit. The Georgian Museum, 105 E. Wheeling St., is a Federal-style mansion built for entrepreneur Samuel & Sarah Maccracken in 1832. It is an antique lover’s delight, with many fine pieces made by Fairfield County artisans. The Georgian Museum also includes the new Fairfield County History Exhibit! From the glaciers to the founding of FCHA, you'll witness Fairfield County emerge from the ice age to become one of the most influential locations in the state and the nation.
