Sherman House & Georgian Museums
The Sherman House Museum, 137 E. Main St., is the birthplace of Civil War Gen. William Tecumseh Sherman and U.S. Sen. John Sherman. The home contains many family treasures and an outstanding Civil War exhibit. Tours at 12, 1, 2 & 3pm. The Georgian Museum, 105 E. Wheeling St., is a Federal-style mansion built for entrepreneur Samuel & Sarah Maccracken in 1832. It is an antique lover’s delight, with many fine pieces made by Fairfield County artisans. Tours at 1, 2 & 3pm. Both museums have great gift shops, too. Because of Covid-19, masks are required and tours are limited to 8 people at a time. Order tickets online at www.FairfieldHeritage.com.
