Weekend Things to Do in the Hocking Hills - September 14-15

Have Festival Fun

It's the Annual Ohio Pawpaw Festival weekend. Spend the weekend with Pawpaw music, food, craft brews, contests / races, art, history, education, sustainable living workshops and activities for the kids. Or celebrate the agricultural roots of our area with the Hocking County Fair

Fall in Love with Covered Bridges

One thing is for certain: Our area has some great covered bridges. And this year kicks off the inaugural Fairfield County Covered Bridge Festival. Have fun with live music and family-friendly activities. You can also get a closer look at some of the covered bridges with the Bridges and Backroads Tour

Float Along

Bring a little romance into your life as you get on the river for the Romantic Moonlight Canoe Trip on the Hocking. The night concludes with live music, wine and an old fashioned marshmallow roast.

Go Back in Time

Did you know the Hocking County Historical Society & Hocking County Genealogical Society have six buildings that you can explore for free? From trying your hand at Morse Code to sitting in a 1900s school desk, there many ways to enjoy the past here.

Go for a Hike

Learn more about the history of the Hocking Hills on this weekend's hikes. Tunnel Vision: King's Hollow will teach you about the history of the rail line and Scalawags & Renegades will teach you all about the heroes and shady characters that hid out in the area.

Raise a Beer

Food trucks, beers and live music?! Does it get any better than that? It does when you can bring your favorite gear to show off to people that will appreciate it. Make sure to stop at Beers, Gears & Cheers

Learn from a Naturalist

Want to learn about the critters that call the Hocking Hills home? Make a stop at the Naturalist Cabin for Reptiles! It's your chance to meet a naturalist and ask all of your questions about the reptiles in the area.

Make a Stop at the Farmers' Market

Get started eating local with a stop at the Athens Farmers' Market or the Lancaster Farmers' Market. And even better, you'll get the chance to shake the hand of the person that made your food.

See the Work of Artists

Be sure to check out  Casey's Rock n Roll Dustbin Exhibit

Hear Live Music

Enjoy the music of the Hocking Hills. Make a stop at Brewery 33, or Hocking Hills Winery hear great local music while also drinking local. Or go to the Bowen House for the Ohio University Lyric Duo.

See the Stars

There's nothing quite like a beautiful starry night. And that starry night looks even better at the John Glenn Astronomy Park. Bring your whole family to marvel at the beauty of the night sky.
