Weekend Things to Do in the Hocking Hills - Feb 9-10
It's another weekend full of fun things to do in the Hocking Hills!
Whether you want to get outside to explore or check all of the fun things you can do indoors here, there is a lot going on. Here's what you should plan on doing this weekend:
Celebrate Valentine's Day
There are so many ways to have a special Valentine's Day in the Hocking Hills. You can have dinner with The Ridge Inn Restaurant for their Sweet Second Saturday. Or maybe you want to try the special dinner menu at The Inn & Spa at Cedar Falls? Does your Valentine love to get outside? Then get your blood pumping at the Sweethearts Hike at Ash Cave. Or make your own special candle together at Christmas Treasures. There are so many ways to celebrate love here this weekend.
Learn more about Nature
This weekend, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Natural Areas and Preserves is hosting a workshop on Winter Tree IDing at Boch Hollow. Although you can expect the trail to be strenuous, it's a great way to learn more about what you see while hiking in the Hocking Hills.
Listen to Poetry Out Loud
Stuart's Opera House is playing host to the regional semifinals for Poetry Out Loud. This is your chance to hear local high school students recite great poetry while they compete to move onto the finals.
Make a Stop at the Farmers' Market
Is your goal this year to eat food that is better for you? Then this is a great time to start eating local. Get started with a stop at the Athens Farmers' Market. And even better, you'll get the chance to shake the hand of the person that made your food.
See the Work of Local Artists
Did you know some very talented artists call the Hocking Hills home? You can see the work of just a few of them at Positive Light, a photographic exhibition of life’s brighter side, featuring John Halley, Wendy Minor Viny and Joel Prince. In this exhibit, these photographers share what they find uplifting about our area.
Hear Live Music
You can check out the Second Sunday Beadmaking at the Ohio Glass Museum. Here you will find demonstrations and chances to try your hand at the craft. It's a great opportunity to pick up a new hobby!
Make a Stop at the Naturalist Cabin
This weekend, at the Naturalist Cabin, you'll have a chance to learn more about the critters that call the Hocking Hills home. A naturalist will be on hand to answer all of your questions.
