Millersport Sweet Corn Festival WED TO SAT, 2645 Chautauqua Blvd, Millersport;; 5:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. The Millersport Lions Club founded the Sweet Corn Festival and is proud to continue to be the sponsor. The spotlight feature is all the hot butter sweet corn you can eat. We have over 70 non-profit food and game vendors representing Central Ohio's finest civic, school, athletic, social and church organizations. Midway rides, corn eating contests, a tractor pull and live bands.

Naturalist Cabin "Open,” Naturalist's Cabin near Old Man's Cave Visitors Center; Hocking Hills State Park; St. Rt. 664 S; Logan; 740-385-6841; 2:00 p.m. Come to the naturalist cabin located behind the Old Man's Cave visitor center for a closer look some of the history of the area. Learn a new game from days gone by or see how the pioneers lived.

SamJam Bluegrass Festival - THURSDAY TO SUNDAY, Pike County Fairgrounds, Piketon, Ohio; 812-699-0962;; $30-$100 This four-day festival has an extraordinary lineup, a beautiful venue and reasonably priced admission. After an exceptional debut, SamJam is poised to become one of the finest music events in the Ohio Valley and beyond. The Pike County Fairgrounds in Piketon, Ohio, has more than 300 camper hookups and covers more than 40 acres in the picturesque foothills of the Appalachian mountains.

Lancaster Handmade Market, Corner of Broad & Main, Lancaster; 740-438-8897; 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Join us under the trees on the first and third Saturday of the month at the corner of Broad and Main for our Handmade Market of locally made Arts & Crafts. First and third Saturdays until the end of October.

All Caboose Train At Hocking Valley Scenic Railway, Hocking Valley Scenic Railway, Nelsonville Depot, Nelsonville;; $25 11:00 a.m. On September 2nd, we will pull grab all of the cabooses that are privately-owned (as each owner allows at least) and operate our annual all-caboose. Usually we have about five cabooses in the train's consist. Departing the Nelsonville Depot at 11:00 a.m., the train operates to East Logan and return with photo run-by's (where everyone has the opportunity to de-train and photograph the train passing by before re-boarding) along the way. Seating is incredibly limited (each caboose holds no more than ten people; some are fewer than that), so be sure to reserve your seat as soon as possible! A great trip for any rail fan! Duration of ride: Approximately three hours.

American Legion Monthly Steak Dinner, American Legion Post 78 12845 St. Rt. 664 S Logan; 740-385-8811; 4:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. $12 . The Auxiliary of American Legion Post 78 provides this delicious steak dinner on the 1st Saturday of every month. Come join us for a good meal, with the proceeds helping our community and supporting two Legion baseball teams.

Night Flight Rappel Adventure WEDNESDAY AND SATURDAY, High Rock Adventures, Opossum Hollow Road, Rockbridge; 740-385-9886; $80 adults, $70 kids Approx 8:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.  A Night Flight Rappel down towering cliffs under the cover of darkness. Guests will arrive and hike up to the cliffs at sunset, then embark on 2 different rappels from the top of our towering sandstone cliffs. Enjoy the night sounds of Hocking Hills forest as it comes alive.

Hand-Feeding Hummingbirds at Lake Hope State Park EVERY DAY UNTIL OCT 31, Lake Hope State Park, 27331 St Rt 278, McArthur; 740-596-3030; 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. FREE Come to the Lake Hope Nature Center and share the unique experience of hand-feeding the Ruby Throated Hummingbird. Participants can attempt to hand-feed hummingbirds. NO RESERVATIONS REQUIRED

Romantic Moonlight Canoe Trip on the Hocking, Hocking Hills Adventures, 31251 Chieftain Dr, Logan; 740-385-8685;; $45 per canoe; 1 hr before dusk Experience the Hocking River as it quietly settles for the night. Trip starts at sunset and concludes at the canoe livery landing with live music, bonfire, refreshments, wine and a marshmallow roast.

Labor Day, Monday September 4

The Dairy Barn Arts Center Presents the 20th Quilt National and the Crazy Quilt Crawl EVERY DAY UNTIL SEPTEMBER 4, The Dairy Barn Arts Center, 8000 Dairy Ln, Athens; 740-593-4981;; $10 general admission From May through August, visitors to Athens will not only experience 85 incredible contemporary quilts in Quilt National '17 at the Dairy Barn, they will also have the opportunity to go on the Crazy Quilt Crawl, which will feature contemporary and traditional quilts from local Athenians at over 45 locations in town and throughout Athens County.
