Sherman House & Georgian Museums
The Sherman House, 137 E. Main St., is the birthplace of Civil War Gen. William Tecumseh Sherman and U.S. Sen. John Sherman. The home contains many family treasures and an extensive Civil War exhibit. The Georgian Museum, 105 E. Wheeling St., is a mansion built for entrepreneur Samuel & Sarah Maccracken in the early 1830s. It is an antique lover’s delight, with many fine 19th century pieces made by Fairfield County artisans. Our museums are closed while we prepare for the new season beginning April 3, but weekday tours are available by appointment whenever possible.
