Viceroy

The Viceroy closely resembles the Monarch, but Viceroys have a black arch across each hindwing, which Monarchs lack.

Viceroys are active in the Hocking Hills from late spring through summer and fall. They frequent rivers, streams, and wooded edges where the caterpillars eat the leaves of willow and cottonwood trees.
