Poetry reading and book signing

February 12, 2022

Downtown, Family Friendly, Indoor, Music

Gwendolyn S. Corbett, native of Hocking County, has published her first book, “The Light at The End of The Covid-19 Tunnel.”  The book is a compilation of poems that were written from the beginning of the Covid-19 shut down in Ohio, March 20, 2020 through May 8, 2021.

The poems are spiritually uplifting and are meant to help heal the heart and soul from the challenges of the Coronavirus Pandemic.  They are also a higher calling for humans to work together for the sake of humanity and the place we all call home, Earth.

The poems came out of the blue and straight through Gwendolyn’s heart and soul.  Sometimes a poem poured through her when she walked out the back door, onto her patio and touched by the warm rays of the sun or the freshness of a spring breeze.  Other times a poem downloaded into her when she saw a beautiful flower that was so full of hope and life when the world was lacking hope and feared death.  Children’s laughter and dogs barking would ignite words which came readily to form yet another poem.

Accompanying each poem is a beautiful graphic image created by the author’s friend, Rick Barr.  Additionally, the book has a “Resource Section” in the back of the book which details the inspiration for each poem and graphic image.  The inspiration description takes the readers through various emotions, lifestyles, and events that so many people have experienced during Covid-19.

“The Light at The End of The Covid-19 Tunnel” is now available at Amazon and Barnes and Noble.  Certain percentage of proceeds will go towards helping disadvantaged youth in Hocking County.  The author intends to channel this to Foundation for Appalachian Ohio and The Hocking County United Way.  Gwendolyn has also written a few children’s books and is working with graphic illustrators to get those books to publication.  All of her books will aid children in need in various areas.
